Log I, "Observations"
Log I, "Observations": An often misinterpreted title, the Forsaken are not the demon-spawn that most peasantry take them as, but a more primal entity not bound to our concept of good and evil. They show no specific malice towards humans, and seem to follow instead a rather unique set of animalistic instincts and features that one can use to easily differentiate a Forsaken from the common forest animals. Their diet seems to consist primarily of other forsaken creatures, both plant and animal, though in acts of desperation they will settle for non-forsaken food sources. Any concept of pack mentality seems to disappear, even from canine and avian creatures, as it is very rare that a Forsaken will ever travel in more than a pair, and it is almost inevitable that one will come to devour the other . The most key differentiation of a Forsaken from a simple beast is the both subtle and dramatic changes to its physiological characteristics. It seems that a Forsaken will either move ahead or behind in the evolutionary ladder, changing or losing key traits often seen in their beast counterparts; a frog may have a a slightly more poisonous coating, or a bird's talons and wingspan might be grown or shrunk catastrophically. As of yet, I have not been able to discover how these creatures reproduce, as all appear to be sterile due to their displacement in the gene pool. I plan to study further, and perhaps spend more time observing a Forsaken in hopes of gaining more insight on it's life cycle.
